Played with 40 cards by four players in two teams, three cards each. The rank above the face-up vira becomes the manilha — cards that beat everything else. A hand is up to three tricks and starts worth 1 point, raised by Truco calls to 3, 6, 9 and a ceiling of 12. The first team to 12 points wins the match.
40 cards — ranks 4 through 7, Q, J, K, A, 2 and 3 in all four suits; there are no 8s, 9s or 10s.
Four players in two fixed partnerships, partners sitting opposite each other, with three cards dealt per player.
The rank directly above the face-up vira. Cards of that rank beat everything, ordered clubs > hearts > spades > diamonds.
Truco raises the hand from 1 point to 3; further raises take it to 6, 9 and a ceiling of 12.
The calling team wins the hand at its pre-raise value: running from "truco" means just 1 point, and the hand ends immediately.
If the same team wins the first two tricks the hand ends at once, and a tie in the second trick after winning the first also ends it.
12 points — the first team to reach it wins; a fully tied hand scores nothing.
